about our special guest tyer
gunnar brammer

Gunnar Brammer, a resident of Duluth, MN, finds himself at the intersection of the Midwest's warmwater streams and the cold waters of Lake Superior. Though a latecomer to fly fishing, his journey began at the age of 14 during a summer trip to Canada. Inspired by his father and a friend's tales of pursuing Northern Pike on the fly, Gunnar dedicated himself to mastering the art. Equipped with a 5 wt fly rod and a passion for tying flies, he successfully landed many Pike, igniting a lasting passion.

Following a transformative experience working at Galloup's Slide Inn on the Madison River, Gunnar's love for streamer tying took root. Despite returning to the Midwest as a Wildlife Field Technician, his obsession with Pike and Musky continued to shape his tying efforts. In 2015, he established Brammer's Custom Flies, delving into the world of commercial tying. Although family commitments shifted his focus, Gunnar remains dedicated to perfecting his craft and sharing his expertise through teaching, social media, and collaborations with fly fishing brands.

As a RIO Flies Signature Tier, Ambassador for RIO Fly Lines, and a member of the Pro Team for HMH Vises and Hedron Inc, Gunnar continues to leave a mark on the world of fly fishing.

We're trying our best this year to get an accurate head count via advanced ticketing but if you forget to get a ticket in advance we'll get you registered at the check in station in the event pavilion.

There's a big gravel parking lot on the west side of the brewery off Hofland Rd. You can't miss it! We'll have signs on the exterior of the building leading you into the event upon arrival.

There are plenty of hotels in the Menomonie and Eau Claire area. There's even several house / cabin rentals via Air Bnb & VRBO.

Lucette Brewing Co. has arguably the best wood fired pizza you've ever eaten, along with some other offerings such as bruchetta sticks, cheese sticks, baked pretzels... There's sure to be several menu items that'll tickle those taste budz of yours.

They also have a full line up of tasty thirst quenching beers to get your creative juices flowing as well as several non-alcoholic beer and beverage options. Check out the full menu here:

Not a problem at all, this is the perfect event for you to attend and see what it's all about. Everyone is super nice and willing to explain a thing or two. We'll most likely even have extra vises for you to try some fly tying.

Yes you certainly can. But you'll miss out on one of the greatest events of the year. Just clear that schedule of yours in advance ;)

Yes there are power outlets around the perimeter of the space and there's plenty of natural light that pours in the venue.

Nope, there won't be any on site vendors selling materials / equipment at this event. But if you forget something odds are pretty dang good someone there will have what you need and you can offer up a trade or by em a beer!

Yes it certainly is. Fly tying is about as wholesome and fun as it gets. Folks under 21 will need to have a guardian present while attending this event and at the brewery.

There are bathrooms just down the hall from the event pavilion and another set of bathrooms in the brewery as well.

We ask that you leave your dog and any other pets at home as there are food and beverages being served on site as well as loads of fly tying materials they may be interested in.
