"This fly started out as a slim, shrimp imitation, with metal bead eyes. But it soon became obvious that the fish preferred a version tied with 3-D molded eyes. So, the dubbing material was bulked up, and with a marabou skirt, and a supple, synthetic hair tail, the fly now had a tapering, baitfish, profile. Some wraps of non-lead wire gave the fly a better sink rate, and often fish would hit the fly as it was sinking. Bright, contrasting, colors instead of flashy materials were used to make the fly more visible.
