Book Review

When Rick Kustich first published his Fly Fisherman article “Hunting the Hunter” in 2010, fly fishing for muskies was an arcane pursuit. Six years later there have been dozens of magazine articles, fly-fishing films, and even fly rods, lines, and leaders created specifically for musky fishing. Kustich continues to lead this rapidly expanding and evolving sport with a book compiling the knowledge gained from over 4,000 hours and 25 years of musky fishing. -- Ross Purnell, publisher/editor of Fly Fisherman magazine

Rick Kustich is uniquely qualified as both an accomplished, professional fly angler and prolific, professional angling writer to take on the subject of musky fly fishing. Rick gets this game—I've fished with him in both my home waters and his and can testify firsthand that he's not just a pen who pulls on waders occasionally. Rick is one savvy stick—he is able to communicate his vast experience through a polished, journalistic writing style that handles the difficult subject effectively.
We've waited too long for a meaty follow-up to the Tomes classic Muskie on the Fly and I'm happy to say that Mr. Kustich has delivered a real Porterhouse! Grab a good knife and fork and dig into his seasoned insight and straightforward advice. -- Brad Bohen, owner of Musky Country Outfitters and a main character in the fly fishing film Zero 2 Hero
